The Power of Mentoring
I fell in love with mentoring young moms when four of our friends went through divorces the same year. It was heartbreaking. What could I do to help young moms build something strong in the early years of marriage, rather than when things got rough, hard to repair and would require professional counseling?
We started by asking young moms “what’s working and what’s not working?” Over 20 plus years we have refined those topics, learned from the hundreds of unique moms, and gradually built a curriculum that can now equip groups of moms around the world on a life-changing journey together. The secret sauce is simply one mom convening her friends, (perhaps with an older mentor) and having intentional conversations.
Lloyd and I are enjoying the fruit of God’s wisdom after 40-plus years of marriage. It really works. We are having the best time, because we have practiced these simple but profound wise ideas that God intended to bless families.
Through all the ups and downs of our years together, these Wise Mom principles have proven out as we journey with three adult kids and their wonderful spouses, and four grandbabies (so far).
